The American Akita has a balanced character and a stable psyche. They are vigilant to everything that happens, freedom-loving and independent. Today, this breed is used not only as a companion dog, but as a watchdog, service dog, or even as a guide dog. These dogs are extremely silent, unless, of course, they have been taught otherwise by another dog companion. Now the American Akita is used mainly as a companion dog, a loyal family friend and at the same time a devoted guard who knows his territory and is ready to defend it even in the most extreme situations.
